Our vision
TodoCatalyst is born partly out of frustration with the limitations of existing todo apps. But even out of a desire to help achieve high personal efficiency combined with a healthy life-work balance. It is strongly inspired by the famous Scandinavian capability of getting a lot fo work done and still have lots of time to enjoy life.
Most Todo lists just build up endlessly and then get abandoned. Working harder is never a long-term solution. New methodologies pop up with good ideas and great promises. But each one has limitations. And having to adapt your way of working to match a tool or a methodology shouldn’t be necessary, instead the tools you use should fit your needs and preferences so you know it’ll stick. The best tool is the one that lets you work your way.
At TodoCatalyst, we aim to develop the features that go all the way so you won’t run into limitations at every turn. The user interface is functional and clean. Eye-candy and bling-bling may catch the attention, but gets in the way in the long run.

Never miss a Reminder
Reminders are there to help you exactly like you want. TodoCatalyst keeps track of all Reminders you haven't dealt with yet. In the Reminders screen, you can cancel or snooze Reminders individually or all once. You can even set a specific snooze time with a long click.
Interrupt timer
If only you were never interrupted. But you are. The Interrupt Timer lets you time an interrupt with one click so at the end of the day, you know exactly what interrupted you. And for how long. You'll know exactly where that mysterious time you thought you'd spend on your tasks went.
A Today view with everything
The Today view shows you everything you need to deal with today: tasks that are due, tasks that were waiting until today, tasks with reminders today and time you have blocked today (and hey, you can even see the tasks that fit into your block)
Subtask Inheritance
Nobody like repeating stuff. You can use project inheritance to automatically update all subtasks when for example you set a project due date or start date. change the project priority, If you set a project to Waiting every subtask is also updated.
Multiple categories
Categories are great to place into 'bins' like the Getting Things Done methodology advices. But many tasks don't fit into just one category, so TodoCatalyst lets you set as many categories as you want so you can find a task in every relevant category.
Multi-methodology
TodoCatalyst is methodology-agnostic and supports most popular methods. You can use with with Getting Things Done, it supports time blocking better than anyone, it automates the Bullet Journal to avoid endless copying.
Focus
To focus on the important work, you don't want clutter in your list of tasks. TodoCatalyst lets you hide tasks until they become relevant: you can hide tasks that are Waiting, you hide tasks until a specific date, you can set tasks to auto-cancel after some time.
Estimates made easy
Estimates should be easy. You can enter estimates like "1h15" directly in the task text. Templates for projects or subprojects can have default estimates so even complex work gets an estimate with zero effort. And if you create a template from an actual project, the actual effort is automatically used as the template's estimate. You can even define a default estimate to match your typical average effort.
Quick list navigation
If you're an iPhone user, you already know you can click the title to scroll a list up to the top. TodoCatalyst brings this to Android as well. And lets you long-click to move to the bottom of the list or double-click to switch between two positions in a long list.
Powerful repeats
Some tasks need to repeat exactly like they need to repeat. Not everything fits "every two weeks". TodoCatalyst lets you repeat tasks in every possible way. AND, since repeating tasks can be an important part of your upcoming work load, you can even generate multiple repeat instances at the same time. In this way, the impact a bi-weekly 1h task will have over the next month.
Real-life Prioritization
When you have more work than time - and who hasn't - the only approach is to work based on your priorities. The typical High/Medium/Low doesn't work (you never get beyond High), TodoCatalyst lets you define priorities based on the Eisenhower model (High/Low Importance and High/Low Urgency). You can also define the value of task and sort based on ROI (value divided by effort). You can even mark task based on how affinity and challenge, so you can easily find tasks that fit your energy level.
Manual sorting
Many todo apps only let you sort tasks in their way. But manual sorting, by dragging and dropping tasks into the right priority order is a simple and yet incredibly powerful approach. TodoCatalyst lets you do this. You can still show a list sorted, but the manual order is always preserved behind the scenes.

A catalyst is an agent that provokes or speeds significant change or action. We believe that TodoCatalyst has the potential to transform how you handle work – and everything else you want to do. In a small, but very real way.
The shortest way to say it is that TodoCatalyst is for self-managed people with too much work. Managers, Freelancers, Consultants, Small business owners, Parents, … The list gets pretty long when you think about it. People who have freedom in how they plan and spend their time. And who want an app that is a real concrete help at every step. Easy and fast to use.
TodoCatalyst is of course available on iOS and Android. It also runs on tablets. It is planned to release versions for Mac, Windows and web browsers soon.
Well, maybe it’s coming. But TodoCatalyst is for a special and somewhat niche market: self-managed people with too much work. We focus on their needs and may leave out features they are less likely to use. But of course, we can’t get it 100% correct, so share your suggestions with us here: suggestion@todocatalyst.com.
If you get the full benefits of TodoCatalyst, our hope is you won’t find it expensive. The impact it can have your work, life and career is likely to be way larger than the cost of the subscription. Just one tenth of a percent salary increase is likely to pay back the TodoCatalyst subscription many, many times.
The free version of many other todo apps leave out important features like Reminders, repeating tasks or categories. Our free version includes almost every feature so you can use it fully and only subscribe when you start managing a lot of work. So, you only pay if, and hopefully when, TodoCatalyst gives you a lot of value.
You will not lose any tasks (so if you upgrade again later everything will work like before). As long as you have more elements (tasks, projects, lists, categories, templates) than the new limit, you won’t be able to create new ones. And if you have too many, you’ll need to delete the ones you don’t want to keep.
